Wonderful, thoughtful post as usual! Fortunate Canadians living in areas such as the east and west coasts have easy access to nature throughout the year. It's a sad reality that Toronto is a concrete and glass jungle. Same goes for the city centre in Mississauga. By the way, have you ever visited Don Valley Park? A number of years ago while traipsing there we watched in fascination as a stag suddenly emerged from the foliage to rush over to the other side of the trail. So unexpected and wonderful! Just yesterday while walking along the Credit River at Hewicks Park in Mississauga I observed a blue heron silently standing in the middle of the river. That part of the river was particularly pretty with water rippling over rocks that had a sheen of green algae. At one point the heron walked a few steps, did a half pirouette, stuck its bill in the water then came up with a squirming fish that it swallowed right away. What a zen moment!
