Getting huge gains from the reps is so true!! That’s the best part about the tool - doesn’t matter how you’re implementing it, there is no “wasted” time

It is so nice to have these curated sessions at the LYT conference. I have been making connections between the different sessions and am still connecting them together in new ways. I am looking forward to replaying the sessions and creating the connections between the ideas. Thanks for sharing where you are getting stuck. I am trying to improve my definition of where I am stuck so I can work on it. The compass is going to get a workout as I go along.

Totally! I love observing how different people use their notes. It’s like reading Apartment Therapy blog posts where you get a glimpse into how other people make their places into homes, and while you won’t copy someone’s solution perfectly, you do learn a thing or two, pick up a fun texture or shelf idea, see a bathroom tile you like... all that complex info helping you develop your sensibility for interiors. Immersion is useful.

Be sure to send updates on your workouts! 😉

Thank you for the compass method! One question: Do the statements we make in these 4 directions also have to be atomic notes? So I have one atomic note in the middle and the 4 notes surrounding should also je atomic or can these be long paragraphs? Looking forward for more content!

Hi sus! They don’t have to be atomic notes to start, but they certainly can be over time! I don’t like to say that something “has to” be a certain way in one’s notes... I personally like the freedom of just being able to jot down what I’m thinking (whether it be a keyword or a long ass rant) without the shackles of formality. However, if you see yourself writing a similar thing over and over again in different contexts for different ideas, that’s my signal for formalizing an idea into an atomic note so it can be cross-referenced. If you use apps that can block reference (roam, logseq, obsidian etc), you could do that for a while before minting a new page. Hope that helps!

I enjoyed your session at LYT conference. Thank you for the great presentation. I knew Zettelkasten but I haven’t tried it yet, your presentation gave me a guide to start it. Especially, NEWS framework was helpful!

Thank you for tuning in Kei! Im glad we managed to interest you in the Zettelkasten method with our presentation, and I would also recommend Bob Doto’s session which goes much more in depth ☺️

I think that most of us struggle in the creation and reuse of our notes. Possibly from a feeling of 'imposter syndrome' - eg. Why would anyone else want to read what I have to say? Or perhaps it is a bit of a reflection of we are spending more time collecting and thus have less time for curation. At the end of the day, like you, I am still collecting and know that I will find my purpose for it eventually. Thanks for your newsletter write-up and your LYT session - it was amazing!! :-)

Thank you Scott ✨🙏✨

Interesting! I think in the past I was definitely paralyzed by impostor syndrome. After publishing for less than a year, my confidence is up and I frankly haven’t had the feeling of IS for a while 🤞 now I think my bigger blockages is that I feel I haven’t collected enough, which you also mention. I haven’t identified a complete molecule of various atomic ideas that I can see a bombshell thesis in. Perhaps if I worked more internally w my notes like Vicky does w the compass would something come about. Dunno, will have to try some things and let you know 😀
